Profiles of the Founders
The Good Samaritan Foundation is a philanthropic organization founded in 1992 by four renowned former Washington Redskins: Art Monk, Tim Johnson, Charles Mann, and Earnest Byner.
Art Monk
Once known as one of the NFL's all-time leading receivers and one of the games' most reliable, hardworking and dedicated players in the league, Art's quiet strength fuels a determination and heartfelt longing to help make our community a better place for all people.
Charles Mann
A four-time pro-bowl defensive end, Charles is a giant among men and works harder than most to make a positive impact on the community. Devoting much of his time to charity, his desire is to help improve the physical, spiritual and moral fiber of our community.
Tim Johnson
One of football's most valued performers, Tim is as steady as a rock in his community today as he was in the middle of the defensive line during his NFL days. With a deep conviction to community service, he strives to raise the awareness of individuals to the needs of the community. Tim currently serves as a member of the Honorary Board of Directors and serves as the Assistant Pastor of Bethel World Outreach Center in Nashville, TN.
Earnest Byner
A two-time Pro-Bowl running back, Earnest holds one of the highest total yards rushing records in NFL history. Running and working hard with incredible toughness, Earnest is the "heart and soul" of the team spirit. Earnest serves as a member of the Honorary Board of Directors and is continuing his prestigious football career as the Running Backs coach for the Washington Redskins.
