Introduction
The Good Samaritan Foundation developed the Student Training Opportunity Program (STOP) to help Washington, D.C.'s inner-city youth realize and fulfill their hopes and dreams. STOP gives its participants access to support, training and resources necessary to achieve a life of leadership and excellence.
STOP (Student, Training, Opportunity, Program) is the Foundation's employment and leadership development program designed to prepare inner-city high school students for success in the community and in the workplace. Each component of the program seeks to inspire youth to give back to the community, work hard, reach academic excellence and set high standards of achievement.
STOP is a year round youth development program, which provides a safe place and adult supervision for high school students, where they can:
- Work on their homework, strengthen academic skills and develop social skills
- Explore their interests
- Participate in moral development
and other meaningful activities that help them build
positive character traits and a sense of civic
responsibility
Please review each component of STOP to learn more about the program and how our students and their community have benefited from its success.
